Hop the Yasawas on a Bula Pass — backpacker bures, manta rays, beach bonfires, the social, budget Fiji. More transit than a resort trip, way more story.
8 days and 9 stops — Nadi and Yasawa Islands, with two moves between them. It opens with nadi night. Every stop carries the note that put it on the list. Read it all here, no app and no account.
The 8-day Fiji itinerary, day by day
Day 01 · Nadi
Nadi night
Bamboo Backpackers
One night near Nadi (Wailoaloa Beach — Bamboo or Smugglers Cove are the social budget bases). Sort the Bula Pass, meet people, early ferry tomorrow.
Transfer · day 1 → 295 km apart
Day 02 · Yasawa Islands
Hop the chain — south
Kuata Island
The Yasawa Flyer drops you island to island. South Yasawas — dramatic peaks, easy snorkelling, sociable bures.
Beach bonfire + kava night
Communal dinner, a kava bowl and a beach bonfire — where the backpacker friendships start.
Day 03 · Yasawa Islands
Mid-chain · mantas
Mantaray Island Resort
The Manta Ray Passage — snorkel with wild mantas (May–Oct, tide-dependent; stay 2–3 nights to catch a window). Barefoot Manta / Mantaray are the budget gateways.
Day 04
A free day
Nothing scheduled. This is the slack in the trip: sleep in, go back to the thing you liked, or do nothing at all.
Day 05 · Yasawa Islands
North · Blue Lagoon
Nanuya Island
North Yasawas — the Blue Lagoon beaches and village-run bures. Communal meals, kava nights, beach bonfires.
Day 06 · Yasawa Islands
Caves + village
Sawa-i-Lau Caves
Limestone sea caves, entered after a village ceremony.
Blue Lagoon beach
An afternoon on the Blue Lagoon beaches with the same crew leapfrogging the chain — this is where the friendships happen.
Day 07 · Yasawa Islands
Last island day
Yasawa Islands
A final beach-bonfire night before the long ferry back — plan the timing (the far-north legs are 2–5 hours).
Transfer · day 7 → 895 km apart
Day 08 · Nadi
Ferry back, fly out
Port Denarau
Yasawa Flyer back to Denarau, out via Nadi.
